“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.” (Matthew 6:7, ESV)
There are two things to which we should never reduce prayer.
First, we should never reduce prayer to a grand show of pretense.
Second, we should never reduce prayer to a heap of empty words.
Instead, we should just be real with God. He knows when we’re not.
