“Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.” –Psalm 2:8
The covenant of sonship made to the king in this passage includes an inheritance.
The scope of the Lord’s inheritance is not small; It includes “the nations,” and “the ends of the earth.”
As Abraham Kuyper noted, “there is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: ‘Mine!'”
It is no wonder then that Christ, post-resurrection, commanded his disciples “and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age'” (Matthew 28:18–20)
