Of particular note, this is the first Psalm given a title. A “psalm” (Heb. mizmor) is a poem recited to music, usually the plucking of a harp. Those who are familiar with the Homeric epics will likely hear echoes of the rhapsode, the poets who sang the stories of the heroes to the plucking of a harp.
One take-away is that the ancients were keenly aware that the poetry or songs of the culture convey to the people their identity.
