“Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.” -Psalm 25:8–9
The conjunctive adverb, therefore, acts as the hing to this thought. Because the Lord is good and upright he instructs sinners in the way. It’s what he does because of who he is. The actions of God cannot be separated from the character of God.
As David did, we can have confidence that the Lord desires—and will accomplish his desire—to instruct sinners in the way they should go. One difference in the way one goes, however, is whether or not the sinner is willing to be humble. In other words, there are different ways of learning the same lesson but they don’t necessarily result in the same outcome.
