“And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.” (Matthew 5:40–42, ESV)
Supernatural is beyond (or above) what is natural.
The calling of a Christian–to be a Christ-imitator–is a supernatural calling.
It is natural to want to defend our person, our possessions, our time, and our individual rights.
It takes a strong person to take the high road and just let some offenses go. But that’s still natural.
It’s supernatural to let go of the offense and then willingly go the extra mile for the offender.
Jesus laid down his life in this way both as a ransom for our sins and as an example of how to live.
That’s one reason Christians are given the Holy Spirit, our Parakletos.
