Psalm 11:4–7 (ESV): 4 The Lord is in his holy temple; The Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man. 5 The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. 6 Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.
The Lord will “test” both the children of men and the children of the Lord. No deed will go unjudged, but the outcomes will be different. The wicked man who loves violence will face the violence of fire and brimstone. (v.6) But the righteous will behold his face. Therefore, Matthew 6:33 (ESV): But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
