“My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day.” -Psalm 7:10–11
“My shield is with God,” is a Hebrew idiom that suggests the duty of protecting its bearer has been taken up by God, who being a righteous judge, will faithfully execute his office in favor of the upright in heart.
Though evildoers haughtily dismiss the reality of God, they do so foolishly because the wickedness of the indignant does not go unnoticed by God. He is not a disinterested Creator. He is a righteous judge who “feels” indignation for their sin every day. And He will not let the sin of the unbeliever go unpunished.
Though Christians often feel fearful and discouraged at the audacity and bodacious deeds of evil men and women, we need not to. God is our shield as much as He is their judge.
And Nahum reminds us “The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies…Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him.” -Nahum 1:2, 6
