“Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser’s hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.” (Matthew 5:25–26, ESV)
There’s a practical side to seeking reconciliation.
Once the opportunity to pursue reconciliation has passed, it’s nearly impossible to turn an enemy into a brother.
And, the burden of the consequences is meted out in full measure.
“A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city, and quarreling is like the bars of a castle.” (Proverbs 18:19, ESV)
