“Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping. The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord accepts my prayer. All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.” –Psalm 6:8–10
Through the agony of his suffering, David is confident that God has heard his weeping and has answered his prayer for deliverance. It would be enough for us to simply meditate on David’s words. Nevertheless, we see that he has turned from crying out to the Lord to declaring his victory.
Only those who have experienced the hope that comes with knowing your prayers have been answered can recognize the gravitas of David’s proclamation. But only the righteous, those who are in Christ, can speak this way.
“The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” –Proverbs 28:1
