“The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and may you establish the righteous— you who test the minds and hearts, O righteous God!” -Psalm 7:8–9
David is continuing from the previous verses asking God to vindicate him in light of the accusations that have been laid at his charge. This is what is meant by “judges.” When God judges individuals and nations, we can be confident he judges rightly. We have no reason to fear that he will be distracted, give in to partiality, or make a misjudgment in our case. And when he issues a verdict, God either gives justice to the evildoer, or he shows mercy and makes him justified, but one thing he never gives is injustice.
