“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.” -Psalm 8:1
By addressing God the way he does (Yahweh and Adonay), David is stressing God’s dominion over his creation. He is saying that the earth, being full of the wonder and glory of God, exalts His name throughout the earth. Further, His splendor and magnificence not only fills the earth, but his glory is set above the heavens.
It’s one thing to behold the majesty of God through contemplating his creation, but it’s something altogether weightier to consider that God brought his transcendent glory into his creation in the person of Jesus Christ.
