A Weekend Reminder
When the children of Israel were exiled into Babylon, the Lord told them to seek the welfare of the city until He returned to establish their dominion again:
“But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” (Jeremiah 29:7, ESV)
Christians are citizens of the kingdom of God. One day the Lord will return and consummate his kingdom on earth. In the mean time, we are to “engage in business” until the Lord returns (Luke 19:13).
This means we are called to engage in kingdom business, seeking the welfare of the city of man until the Lord returns. This is our life’s work: bringing the good news of the kingdom, that hope, forgiveness, and love made possible by the person and work of Jesus is available to all who repent and believe.
What Novels Are You Reading?
This is why Moby Dick is up next on my fiction reading list.
What Are You Writing?
If you are writing a book, chances are you have or will join a writing group. Writing groups are often beneficial. But you might want to check out Jane Friedman’s The 4 Hidden Dangers of Writing Groups before you join one.
What Blogs Do You Read?
Here’s how I read blogs. I usually start following a blog for a little while to see if they offer the kind of content that’s helpful for me. If, after a couple of months, I don’t find the value I’m looking for I unsubscribe and add a new one.
Interesting Literature is one I’ve really enjoyed over the last 6 months. It’s one of the blogs that has actually grown in my opinion. By grown, I mean it’s developed well, like a round character in a good novel should.
What To Do In Vegas?
Being a resident of Las Vegas, I get this question a dozen time a year. Of course, I’m not recommending everything on this list (use your moral judgment), but here are some ideas for your first trip to Las Vegas.
